Cricket betting at golory — best odds and live betting on BPL, IPL and international matches
From T20 to Test — popular betting markets for every format, easy-to-read odds, and the ability to place bets while the match is in progress.
Cricket's three formats and the tournaments Bangladeshis follow most
Understanding cricket betting starts with the format — because how you bet on a T20 match is completely different from how you bet on a five-day Test.
T20
20 overs per team — the match is done in a few hours. Results come fast, odds move fast, and there are more betting markets than any other format. BPL and IPL are played in this format.
ODI
50 overs per team. Finishes in a day, but the style of play is more tactical than T20. Most ICC World Cup matches and bilateral series are in this format.
Test
Five days of play — pitch conditions, weather and innings progress all affect the odds every day. The most complex and well-established format for long-form betting.
Tournaments Bangladeshi fans follow the most
BPL
Bangladesh Premier League — the most popular T20 franchise tournament in the country. Competition heats up with a mix of local and overseas players.
IPL
India's Indian Premier League — the most-watched T20 league in the world. A larger market means odds are more competitive.
T20 World Cup
ICC T20 World Cup — all nations compete together. Local interest is highest when the Bangladesh Tigers take part.
International Series
Bilateral Test, ODI and T20 series run throughout the year. Bangladesh's matches against various countries get particular attention in the betting community.
Alongside cricket — football and other sports
Cricket is the most popular sport in Bangladesh, but football has a strong following too. Betting markets for European leagues, the FIFA World Cup and the AFC Cup are quite active.
The main difference between cricket and football betting is the pace of the game and the type of outcomes. In cricket a draw is possible (in Tests), giving three outcomes with three sets of odds — Team A wins, draw, Team B wins. In T20 or ODI there is generally no draw, so there are just two odds. In football, 90 minutes of play opens up special markets such as number of goals, timing and corner kicks.
Betting is also available on sports like kabaddi, badminton and tennis, though the number of markets is generally smaller and odds tend to be less competitive.
7 popular betting markets in cricket
Each market relies on a different approach — find out what to consider in each type of market.
Match Winner
The simplest market — who will win? Two odds in T20 or ODI, three in Test (Team A wins, Team B wins, draw). Check pitch and weather conditions before placing your bet.
For beginnersToss Winner
Which team will win the toss before the match — the two odds here are almost equal. The outcome is purely down to chance, so this market is mostly for entertainment.
Quick resultTop Batsman
Which batsman will score the most runs? Within a single team or across the whole match — two separate markets. The key is picking a batsman who is in good form.
Performance bettingTotal Runs Over/Under
Will the combined runs scored by both teams be above or below a set number? Pitch pace and wicket conditions play an important role here.
Runs-basedTop Bowler
Which bowler will take the most wickets? Especially popular in T20. Consider which bowler could be effective against the batting lineup given the pitch conditions.
Bowling performanceMulti-Bet
Combining multiple selections into a single bet. For example — if you bet on Team A, Team B and Team A winning in three different matches together, the odds multiply, but if any one of them loses, the whole bet is lost.
Higher return potentialA simple example of a multi-bet
If the odds for three selections in decimal format are 1.60, 1.70 and 1.90, the combined multi-bet odds would be 1.60 × 1.70 × 1.90 = 5.17 (approximately). A ৳100 bet would return ৳517 if all three are correct — but if even one is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost. This is a hypothetical example — the numbers are not predicted outcomes.
How to read decimal, fractional and American odds
The odds for the same bet can be written in three different formats — all three say the same thing, just expressed differently. Decimal format is most common at golory because it is the easiest to read.
| Format | Odds for Team A to win (example) | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 3.00 | Total return of ৳3 on a ৳1 bet (profit ৳2) |
| Fractional | 2/1 | Profit of ৳2 on a ৳1 bet, total ৳3 |
| American | +200 | Profit of ৳200 on a ৳100 bet |
Worked example 1 (underdog): Team A's odds to win are 3.00 in decimal, 2/1 in fractional, +200 in American. A ৳500 bet returns ৳1,500 if correct (৳1,000 profit + ৳500 original stake). If the bet loses, ৳500 is gone.
Worked example 2 (favourite): Team B's odds to win are 1.25 in decimal, 1/4 in fractional, −400 in American (meaning a ৳400 bet is needed to profit ৳100). A ৳500 bet returns ৳625 if correct (৳125 profit).
Odds shift when wickets fall — live in-play betting
You can still place bets after a match has started — this is live or in-play betting. At golory, odds update with every over in T20 and ODI matches.
Say Team A loses two wickets in the first five overs — their odds to win go up, and Team B's come down. If the new batsman hits several boundaries in a row, the situation can flip again.
In Tests, changes happen more slowly, because each session of a five-day match is considered separately. If one team builds a winning position on the final day, the odds move quickly.
Things to keep in mind with in-play betting
- Watching the live broadcast while betting makes it easier to follow the situation.
- Odds change fast — there is not much time to make a decision.
- Bowling changes during the powerplay and death overs can have a big impact on odds.
- Betting is for entertainment — never go beyond your set budget. Read the responsible gaming guidelines to learn more.
Some tips that are useful when starting out
Focus on one market
Start with just the Match Winner market. Once you understand one market well, try others — betting across too many markets at once can easily lead to confusion.
Set your budget in advance
Decide how much you will bet each week or each match before you start. Betting is one form of entertainment — it should not be treated as a way to earn income.
Compare odds
Learning to read odds in all three formats will help you see which bets offer more return. Keep in mind, higher odds do not mean an easier win — higher odds mean lower probability.
Be careful with multi-bets
Multi-bets offer higher returns but also carry more risk. If just one of your three selections is wrong, you lose the whole bet. It is better for newcomers to start with single bets.
